The 50 Best Half-Marathons in the U.S.

The 50 Best Half-Marathons in the U.S.

If it seems like everywhere you look someone is running a half-marathon, that’s because it’s becoming increasingly true. According to Running USA, it’s America’s favorite racing distance with 2.05 million finishers in 2014, up from 1.85 million half-marathon finishers in 2012. That’s a 284 percent increase from the number of folks running them in 2000! While running 13.1 miles still sounds plenty intimidating to many, it’s a much more feasible goal to wrap your head around than a full marathon. Not to mention, it’s still a pretty impressive accomplishment to check off the bucket list. With the proper training (usually 10-14 weeks), anyone really can run a half-marathon.

Whether you’re a running newbie or a seasoned pro who wants to run a half in every state of the nation, we’ve narrowed down the thousands of options. Trust us, these 50 half-marathons in the U.S. (listed in alphabetical order by state) are well worth the training and registration fees. You’ll know it as soon as you cross that 13.1-mile finish line!
